The St Charles College 1st XV was done in by injuries and illness, but more than anything else, they were done in by a strong Hilton College 1st XV, which brought their A-game to Old Orchards on Saturday and powered their way to a 74-14 victory after racing into a 40-0 lead at halftime.
Hilton boasts a very well-balanced lineup. They’re rugged up front and skiful and enterprising at the back, where captain Liyema Nela pulls the strings from flyhalf.
Dominating all aspects of the game on Saturday, they conjured up 12 tries, with Zander Vorster, Ricky Adonis, and Guy Fender all scoring twice, while Jacques Olivier, André Boshoff, Emmanuel “Jerry” Dankwah, Khazimla Makali, Mholi Khuzwayo, and Andrew Schnell also went over for five-pointers.
Hilton comfortably won the big rugby games, although the Saints’ u14A side gave a good account of themselves and pushed the visitors hard.

Hilton claimed a 2-1 win over St Charles in the 1st XI match and ruled the open age group clashes. Matters were even in the u16 games, although Hilton ran out convincing winners in the u16A match, and they held the edge at u14 level.
