On Saturday, on Brooks Field, Maritzburg College completed a season’s double over Pretoria Boys High, winning 33-13 after previously trouncing the Candies 61-5 in Pietermaritzburg.
Rory Stanton and company led 14-3 at halftime after the captain opened the scoring and David Colenbrander scampered through for a second, with Dom du Toit converting both.
In the second stanza, College added three more tries, with SA Schools‘ hooker, Theo Boshoff, dotting down twice, while Sean Jansen also crossed the whitewash. Du Toit added two more conversions.
Boys High mustered a converted try and two penalties in reply.
In Pietermaritzburg, in April, Boys High won three matches. They won only two on Saturday, while the U14A teams drew 24-24. The Boys High U14As won 21-12 at College.
The Boys High u16A side achieved a second win over College, while their 8ths convincingly reversed a loss against College in April.
Overall, Maritzburg College picked up 20 wins.

Heath Hackland won his 50th cap the previous weekend against Affies on Pape’s Astro, where College scored a superb 3-2 win. On Saturday, he scored against Pretoria Boys High in Pretoria. But it wasn’t quite enough for the Red, Black, and White.
Boys High fought back, and their never-say-die effort brought them goals from Luke Payne and Bonqai Vuyeqaba in the last seven minutes of the clash.
Earlier in the season, in Pietermaritzburg, PBHS and College drew 1-1.
Back in April, College won 13 matches, Pretoria Boys High scored two victories, and two matches were drawn. This time, in Pretoria, matters were a touch tighter. College won 11 games, Boys High won three, and three resulted in draws.
