The Northwood and Westville 1st XIs headed to Pretoria for the Wildeklawer T20, which brought together 16 of the country’s best teams. Rain, unfortunately, impacted the third of the four days of action, but Northwood produced a strong showing to finish in seventh place, the best of the KZN schools, which also included Durban High School (DHS).
The Knights went down to the runner-up, Grey College, beat Paul Roos Gimnasium, edged out Hoërskool Menlopark after a super over, and beat Wynberg Boys’ High.
Westville was in the toughest group of the lot, facing Rondebosch Boys’ High, Schools SA20 runners-up, St David’s Marist Inanda, and the eventual winners, Hoërskool Waterkloof. They ended up losing those three games, which, together with the rain on day three, left them playing for 15th. They finished on a high note, beating the CSA Hub Invitational XI.
