HOCKEY
While Clifton College 1st XI captain, Ryde Brisset, was helping SA u18 to a fourth-place finish at the U21 Inter-Provincial Tournament, the KZN Coastal Indoor Hockey League reached its third week.
In the skipper’s absence, the high-flying Clifton side fell to a narrow 3-4 defeat against another high-flyer, Northwood. They bounced back with a win over Westville Boys’ High B after having beaten Westville A last week.

FOOTBALL
Clifton College and St Charles College met on the football field on Saturday, playing 18 matches.
In the showdown between the 1st XIs at the Riverside Sports Club, Clifton edged out Saints 1-0. They also won the 2nd team game 2-1, but the visitors’ 3rd team scored an emphatic 4-0 win.
Saints scraped a 1-0 victory in the U16A game, the U15A sides drew 0-0, and the St Charles U14A team won 1-0.
Overall, Clifton won two matches, St Charles won 11, and three matches finished in 0-0 draws.
In the lead-up to the weekend’s derby fixtures, the Clifton 1st XI faced Port Shepstone High, one of KZN’s most consistent sides, and were well beaten, going down 0-4.
