FOOTBALL
It has been a very good year for Glenwood football. Under the guidance of Khaya Mngwengwe, who is also the Chairperson of the KZN High Schools Football Association (KZNHSFA), the 1st XI won the Mancosa KZNHSFA Coastal A-League in the second term.
During the mid-year holiday, they finished as the runner-up to an outstanding Urban Academy side at the Kearsney Soccer Tournament.
On Sunday, they played in their third final of the year at the Primo Big 10 but just missed out on a repeat of their 2024 success, falling to Westville Boys’ High in the final after a penalty shootout.

PARKTOWN TOUR
Glenwood also made the long trip up to Johannesburg on the weekend for rugby and football clashes against Parktown Boys’ High. While the Green Machine scored a hard-fought victory in the battle of the 1st XVs, the 1st hockey side shared the spoils.
Competition was tight throughout in both the rugby and hockey fixtures.
Parktown surprised Glenwood by winning the 2nd XV and 3rd XV rugby games. They also added a narrow win in the U14A match, but the Durban boys scored 10 victories in total, and were especially dominant in the U15 age group.

HOCKEY
On the Astro, the Glenwood and Parktown 1st teams played to a 1-1 draw.
Parktown has a strong hockey tradition and is consistently among the top teams in Johannesburg. Their Head of Sport, Kyle Reddy, coached the Southern Gauteng u18A team for a second successive year at the SASHOC National Week during the mid-year holiday.
Thus, Saturday’s result was further confirmation of Glenwood’s fantastic progress in the 2026 season. Over the last two to three years, the school has made gains. The hockey programme had fallen off the pace. No more, though! They’re duking it out with top competition and holding their own.
Overall, Parktown won three matches, Glenwood won two, including another victory for their u14A side – what a season it has been for them – and two matches were drawn.

CHESS
On the chessboards, Glenwood and Parktown drew the first round. The visitors, though, took lessons from that and scored a clear-cut win in the second round.
