CRICKET
An outstanding contest on Saturday, on the Robin Smith Oval, between the Northwood and Clifton 1st XIs, during which the advantage ebbed and flowed, eventually went the way of Clifton, which brought the first term’s cricket to a fittingly exciting end.
Northwood enjoyed the better of the other matches on the schedule, but the u15A game was a cracker, which could have gone either way. At its conclusion, it was Northwood who walked away the winners by a skin-of-the-teeth one-wicket margin.

BASKETBALL
Northwood’s 1st basketball side has seized the title of the number one team in South Africa in 2024 in no uncertain terms. Blessed with some remarkably talented players, and performing at the peak of their powers, they recently powered their way to the St John’s Basketball Tournament title, winning in emphatic fashion.
Unfortunately for Clifton, on Saturday they ran into a Knights’ team intent on reprising that form.
It was a clean sweep through the age groups for Northwood, although Clifton’s u15A team came ever so close to changing that.

WATER POLO
Northwood put up a stiff fight, but it was business as usual in the pool, with the Clifton 1st team defeating the Knights 5-3 in their water polo clash, which was played on Wednesday, ahead of both schools’ participation in the KES Water Polo Tournament on the weekend.
The other two open age group matches were shared. Clifton took the u15A honours, but Northwood replied with a win in the u15B match. In the u14 games, Clifton were convincing winners.
