The Durban High School (DHS) 1st XI faced Clifton College in two T20s on Saturday at the Riverside Sports Club, with the teams splitting wins, while DHS won the U15A and U14A matches. For more on those games, please click this LINK.
FOOTBALL
DHS hosted Maritzburg College in a football derby on Saturday, with the 1st football teams meeting for the Raw Cup on Izak van Heerden Field.
It was first contested in 1899, 11 years before DHS and College faced one another in rugby for the first time. Unfortunately, the Raw Cup went missing in 1954. It was found 48 years later.
On Saturday, the teams shared a 2-2 draw, the latest in a series of thrilling clashes between the two rivals. After a heart-in-mouth penalty shootout, the Horseflies claimed a 5-4 victory from the spot.
In 2025, DHS won 3-2 on Barns Field. A year earlier, College edged out DHS in a penalty shootout after the teams had played to a riveting 4-4 draw.
Overall, DHS scored seven wins, College matched that total, while three games finished in 1-1 draws.
School faced Northwood in three mid-week games, with Northwood scoring 1-0 wins in the 1st XI and 2nd XI clashes, while the U16A sides drew.
