St Charles College and Hilton College were two of the better teams on show at the Jody Momplé FA Cup, which Hilton hosted on the weekend, but both were eliminated in the quarterfinals.
Both finished top of their groups. In Group A, Hilton beat Grace College 5-2 and Riverwood 1-0, while Saints downed Weston Agricultural College 4-0 and Nomaswazi 2-0.
Their challenges for the title came to an end on Sunday, with Edendale Technical High, the eventual runner-up, edging out Hilton 1-0 in a tightly contested clash, while St Charles fell 2-3 to ML Sultan (see feature photo) in an entertaining showdown.
Saints hosted Hilton in eight other matches in Pietermaritzburg on Saturday, with the home teams scoring four wins and the visitors winning four. In total, St Charles tallied 16 goals to Hilton’s 15. There was next to nothing between the schools.

WATER POLO
St Charles faced Curro Hillcrest in preparation for the water polo season that is drawing near. They played three matches, winning one and losing two, the second by a single goal.
