CRICKET

The Westville 1st XI took on Maritzburg College and DHS in a three-way T100 competition, with all three teams winning one and losing one. For more on those games, click here.

A win for the 1st XI over DHS was a big highlight. School has been the form team in KZN in the fourth term, but Westville captain Seth Simpson played a match-winning innings to drive the Griffin to victory.

Overall, Westville enjoyed the better of the results, faring especially well in the younger age groups.

Competition was pretty even on the basketball courts, tilting slightly in Westville’s favour, but DHS claimed a 10-point win in the showdown between the first teams.

WATER POLO

Westville and DHS met for ninth place in the playoffs of the Clifton Water Polo Tournament. They had been in the same group earlier in the event, with Westville edging out DHS 9-8 in that meeting. On Sunday, though, in the playoff game, School ran out convincing 9-4 winners.

Their group was the tightest, with the eventual runner-up, St John’s winning it, and Affies edging out Westville and DHS for second on goal difference. In the end, though, both finished above the Pretoria school.
