The KZN Tuskers team to contest the Khaya Majola Week in Bloemfontein from 16-21 December reflects the fact that the region has not featured a dominant team in 2025, with the selections being pretty evenly spread around.
Maritzburg College leads the way with four players, followed by St Charles College and Hilton College, with three each, Michaelhouse, with two, and Ikuseselihle High, with one.
The College quartet includes opening batsman Daniel Nadasan and the left-handed all-rounder Sphamandla Dzanibe, both of whom were part of last year’s Tuskers’ Khaya Majola team. The other returning players are Hilton College’s Ben Hockly and Rowen Rajah, of St Charles.
College’s new ball partnership of Reece Willson and Samuel Hughes also earned selection.
Joining Hockly from Hilton are leg-spinner, David Hill, and paceman, Sechaba Gude.
Hockly turned out for SA u19 earlier in 2025 and while he didn’t have the best of seasons, he was at his best when the challenges were the greatest. With his ability to play up to the opposition, Hockly’s batting returns could be pivotal to the Tuskers’ chances of success.
Rajah, like Hockly, represented the SA u19 Emerging side. He offers express pace and a useful bat, too. His Saints‘ teammates, the hard-hitting Thandolwethu Zama (feature photo, courtesy of Justin Waldman Sports Photography), and off-spinner Kaiyuran Naidoo, who was invited to the South African u17 National Cricket Camp in September, complete the St Charles contingent.
Michaelhouse offers their seam bowling spearhead, Thandanani Zuma, and top order batsman, Ethan Muir, both of whom enjoyed strong fourth terms.
Siphosethu Ngcobo, of Ikusaselihle High, completes the 13-player squad.
Last year’s Dolphins’ u16 team included Zama, Willson, Naidoo, Zuma, and Gude, and they’ve moved up to the Khaya Majola side with the coaches of that side – head coach, Lucky Dladla (St Charles), and assistant coach, Travis Pieters (Hilton College).
