Maritzburg College’s Margaret A’ Bear Media Centre has undergone a refreshing, eye-catching revamp.
Bright colours and a jungle theme, with rich green plants, colourful flowers, and a wide variety of animals, including tigers, zebras, toucans and parrots, provide an inviting venue for those seeking a quiet space for reading, chess and other board games, or simply to relax.
A new puzzlers’ corner has proved to be an instant attraction, with plenty of space for boys to lay down puzzle pieces and challenge themselves to solve a nice selection of different puzzles.
Another popular attraction is the beanbags. They’re favoured relaxation spots, inviting the boys to sink comfortably into them, while getting comfortable with a book.
The Margaret A’Bear Media Centre is home to over 15 000 books, with the library staff playing an important role in selecting titles to suit the curricular needs of Maritzburg College, while also adding other intriguing options for social reading.
The library has extended its hours, too, and is now open to the boys and staff until 17:00 from Mondays to Thursdays.
