DHS lifts two indoor hockey titles, Westville wins one

The final rounds of the KZN Coastal Indoor Hockey League were played over the past week at Thomas More College, with Durban High School (DHS) capturing two titles and Westville Boys’ High the other.

Competition in the U14 age group was extremely tight. One-goal margins decided both semifinals and the third-place playoff, while DHS claimed the title after a 4-2 win over Westville in the title game.

School romped to third in the U16 competition, outplaying Northwood B 11-1, but the final was a low-scoring contest in which Westville edged out Northwood 2-1 to claim the silverware.

Westville also ousted Northwood B, beating them 4-2 in the semifinals, while Northwood sneaked past DHS 4-3.

The U18 competition featured an upset in the semifinals, where Kearsney handed Clifton a 3-1 loss. DHS edged out Northwood, who had topped the round-robin standings, 6-5 in a thriller.

In the final, DHS downed Kearsney 5-2.

The third-place clash was tight, with the Knights scoring a slim 2-1 win over Clifton.
