On Dixon’s Field on Saturday, Northwood produced an attacking masterclass, richly entertaining Glenwood‘s Old Boys and their own supporters, in an astonishing 82-23 victory over the Green Machine.
The Knights crossed for 12 tries, six in each half, and added 11 conversions to complete a remarkable 59-point victory. Yet, despite the one-sided nature of the contest, Glenwood, to their credit, still scored 23 points of their own, including two second-half tries.
Although possession was fairly even, Northwood was clinical whenever opportunities presented themselves. Their pace, precision, and finishing proved too much for the hosts to contain.
Glenwood struck first through the dependable boot of Vincenzo Loutz, who slotted an early penalty. Northwood responded by forging a 12-3 lead before Glenwood closed the gap to 12-9 after 19 minutes, with two more penalties from Loutz. Then, the visitors took charge.
Nala Shabangu got their try-scoring going, and five more tries – from captain Jamie Wimble (see feature photo), Sondelani Sheleni, Phinda Nkosi, Anesu Kuzonyei, and Zak Vrey – propelled the Knights into a big 40-9 lead at the break.
Flyhalf Sondelani Sheleni missed only his first conversion attempt, but nailed the rest while also scoring a try, which gave him 27 points for the game.
After half-time, Ludi van der Walt dotted down twice, while Sefiso Meyiwa crossed for a hat-trick, and Shabangu bagged his second five-pointer.
Glenwood skipper Bona Chibane forced his way over the whitewash twice from close range, and Loutz converted both tries to finish the match with a perfect kicking record of five out of five, which was good for 13 points.
Overall, Glenwood recorded four wins and Northwood 10.

On the 3 Schools Astro, Northwood withstood strong early pressure from Glenwood to go into the halftime break level at 0-0. In the second half, they took charge, eventually recording a 5-0 victory.
Goals from Luc Boyall, Ryan Willis, Keegan Reeves, James Searle, and Caleb Phipson steered the Knights to a win that was tougher than the scoreline might suggest.
Northwood won five of six matches, while Glenwood’s most successful team of the 2026 season, their impressive u14A side, drew 2-2.
